Using Behavioral Science to Fuel Your Fundraising & Inspire People Into Action

Lessons in social and behavioral change are being put to work to influence communications and people’s behaviors. This session will explore a range of behavioral techniques with examples of how they influence behavior. Nonprofit organizations need to be able to understand human psychology and behavioral science to take advantage of these techniques to create effective fundraising, marketing, and communications, as well as to craft effective programs that drive social change.

What You Will Learn

This session is designed as an introduction to this topic and may explore concepts such as:

  • How to avoid biases that can affect how you communicate with your donors and audiences.
  • How we can use nudges to influence behavior.
  • How transparency changes people’s behavior.
  • How anchoring techniques can lift the amount of people’s donations.
  • How priming people by asking their intentions to do something, can make it more likely they will take that action (such as voting).
